Introduction
The Occupational First Aid is a mandatory training course for Occupational First Aiders. The aim of the course is to train
individuals to render first aid treatment to the casualty during an emergency or accident at the workplace.
Workplace Safety and Health (First Aid) Regulations (Cap. 354A, Rg 4) Reg. 5 stipulates that “every
person appointed as a first-aider shall (a) have successfully completed a training course acceptable to the
Commissioner; and (b) undergo such subsequent re-training in first-aid treatment as the Commissioner may
require.
Course Objective
By the end of the course, the participants will have the relevant knowledge and application skills in demonstrating first aid/CPR skills to apply them in their workplace.
Course Content
Theory:
- Basic Principles & Practice of First Aid.
- First aid requirements in factories and other workplaces
- Wounds, Bleeding & Shock
- The Unconscious patient
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and use of AED
- Fractures and soft tissue injuries
- immobilization & splinting Transportation of wounded
- Occupational Eye Injuries
- Burns and Scalding
- Management of Medical Emergencies
For Whom
Any individuals with interest in first aid or has been assigned a WSH-related role in the company. Must be physically fit and able to render help to another individual during an emergency
Entry Requirement
- Singapore citizen, Permanent Resident or Holder of valid employment pass/work permit.
- Must be physically and mentally fit for the training.
- ESS Workplace literacy and numeracy Level 5 and above.
Certification
- Written Assessment for
- 20 OFAC MCQ : 70%
- Written Assessment for
- 20 CPR + AED MCQ: 80%
- Practical Assessment
- Obtain ‘C’ (Competent)
- Course attendance: 75%
Late comers will not be allowed to sit for the test.
Skills Development Fund(SDF)
(Fee Type: Nett Fee)
Participants who are Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) sponsored by Company or Individuals are eligible for the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Funding administrated by the SkillsFuture Singapore Agency (SSG).
Individuals can however apply for SkillsFuture Credits to pay for their training (only applicable for Singaporeans aged 25 and above).
