WSQ Supervise Workplace Safety And Health For Formwork Construction (FSCS)
Overview
Under the Workplace Safety & Health (Construction) Regulations states:
“A formwork supervisor shall be appointed to supervise the construction, erection, alteration or dismantling and inspection of formwork structure at any worksite”. “No person shall be appointed as a formwork supervisor in a worksite unless he has received adequate safety and health training to familiarize him with the hazards associated with the construction, erection, alteration or dismantling of the formwork structure and the precautions to be observed”. “No formwork structure shall be constructed, erected, altered or dismantled in a worksite except under the immediate supervision of a formwork supervisor”. The “Supervise WSH for Formwork Construction” course aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to supervise formwork activities which include the construction, erection, alteration or dismantling and inspection of formwork structures at any worksite.
Participants who are Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) sponsored by Company or Individuals are eligible for the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Funding administrated by the SkillsFuture Singapore Agency (SSG). Individuals can however apply for SkillsFuture Credits to pay for their training (only applicable for Singaporeans aged 25 and above). Course Content
Theory:
- Apply the WSH Act and its subsidiary legislations and relevant Codes of Practice to the construction, erection, alteration or dismantling of any formwork structure in a worksite
- List the roles and responsibilities of a formwork supervisor
- Assist in carrying out risk assessment for formwork activities
- Apply the fundamentals of formwork structure construction
- Ensure formwork structure construction is in accordance with approved design
- Inspect formwork and falsework structure before, during and after concreting
- Respond to failure in formwork structure, fire and emergencies
Course Objective
On completion of this unit, learners will have knowledge and skills in supervising formwork activities which include the construction, erection, alteration or dismantling and inspection of formwork structures at any worksite.

This course is designed for personnel appointed to supervise the construction, erection, alteration or dismantling and inspection of formwork structures at any worksite.
Entry Requirement
Learners are assumed to have Employability Skills (ES) Workplace Literacy level 4 and above. Be able to manipulate numbers at a proficiency level equivalent to ES Workplace Numeracy level 4 and above. Preferably have completed and passed the relevant Formwork Course, SEC(K) (Timber, Aluminium or System Formwork) by Building and Construction Authority (BCA)

Written Assessment: 100 MCQ : 65%
Role Play/ Case Study : 65%
Course attendance: 75%

Upon successful completion of the Course, a “Statement of Attainment” (SOA) from SSG, and a card from Global Training Services, will be issued to all participants.

Construction Registration of Tradesmen, or CoreTrade, is a registration scheme administered by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) for skilled and experienced construction personnel in the various key construction trades.
As MOM require, all construction firms must have at least 10% of their work permit holders (WPHs) to be qualified as “Higher Skilled” R1 workers. Construction personnel registered under the Multi-skilling Scheme are qualified as “Higher Skilled” R1 workers under the Ministry of Manpower (MOM)’s Foreign Worker Levy Scheme.

2) Have a minimum of six (6) years of construction experience in Singapore;
3) Completed 120 hours of training in approved safety-related courses.

2) Have a minimum of six (6) years of construction experience in Singapore.
3) Obtained WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health.

The Direct R1 Scheme was implemented, on 1 Sep 2015, to provide another alternative pathway for the industry to upgrade their construction workers. It allows those who pass the Skills Evaluation Certificate (Knowledge), SEC(K), test at higher skill level and draw a fixed monthly salary of $1,600 or more, to be considered as R1 (Higher Skilled) workers; under the Ministry of Manpower Tiered-Levy Scheme.
