This course is designed for workers who need to use and operate an MEWP (Boom Lift) in any form of work, to be able to do so in a much safer work environment.

Course Overview

The aim of the Operate Boom Lift Course is to equip individuals with the necessary expertise and abilities to safely operate boom lifts. By the conclusion of the course, participant will be skilled in choosing suitable boom lifts, performing risk assessments and route inspections, recognizing potential hazards related to boom lift tasks, executing fundamental boom lift manoeuvres, and securely restoring boom lifts to their original state.

Course Objective

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Select an appropriate MEWP, including risk assessment for the task to be carried out.
  2. State the safety requirements under the Workplace Safety and Health Act and the Code of Practice for Working Safely At Height related to MEWP.
  3. Carry out pre-start inspection.
  4. State factors affecting stability.
  5. Identify common hazards during traveling, setup, operation and parking of MEWP and their control measures.
  6. Conduct workplace inspection.
  7. State function of all MEWPs controls, including emergency controls and emergency procedures.
  8. Use personal protective equipment appropriate to the task, worksite and environment as a result of the risk assessment conducted and according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  9. Operate MEWP safely.

  2. Carry out boom lift operations.
  3. Conduct post operation for boom lift.

Entry Requirement

Learners are assumed to have a basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work, WPLN 3, and be medically fit to work at height.

Certificate issue by

Graduation upon meeting 100% Attendance is mandatory and passing all modules will receive certificate of completion from Global Training Services.
