This course is designed for workers who need to use and operate a MEWP (Scissors Lift) in any form of work, to do so in a much safer work environment.

Course Overview

The aim of the “Operate Scissor Lift” Course is to furnish individuals with the necessary knowledge and competencies for the secure operation of scissor lifts. By the end of the course, participants will have acquired proficiency in choosing suitable scissor lifts, performing thorough risk assessments and route evaluations, recognizing potential hazards associated with scissor lift activities, executing fundamental scissor lift manoeuvres, and safely restoring scissor lifts to their proper condition.

Course Objective

Upon completing this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Select an appropriate MEWP, including risk assessment for the task to be carried out.
  2. State the safety requirements under the Workplace Safety and Health Act and the Code of Practice for Working Safely At Height related to MEWP.
  3. Carry out pre-start inspection.
  4. State factors affecting stability.
  5. Identify common hazards during traveling, setup, operation and parking of MEWP and their control measures.
  6. Conduct workplace inspection.
  7. State function of all MEWPs controls, including emergency controls and emergency procedures.
  8. Use personal protective equipment appropriate to the task, worksite and environment as a result of the risk assessment conducted and according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  9. Operate MEWP safely.

  1. Prepare to carry out Scissor lift operations.
  2. Carry out Scissor lift operations.
  3. Conduct post operation.

Entry Requirement

Learners are assumed to have a basic knowledge of the relevant sector of work, WPLN 3, and be medically fit to work at height.

Certificate issue by

Graduation upon meeting 100% Attendance is mandatory and passing all modules will receive certificate of completion from Global Training Services.
